MUSICIANS YEAR ONE
Let’s get started in Fall 2026! Kindermusik Musicians is a two-year music curriculum for children ages five to seven. Through singing, movement, listening, and instrument play in an age-appropriate group setting, children build a strong foundation of musical skills. This program focuses on learning the basics of reading and playing music using the glockenspiel and recorder (with the option to learn the dulcimer, too!). It also aims to promote a life-long appreciation for music through exposure to diverse musical genres, while helping children develop important school-readiness skills.
It is strongly advised that children are signed up for the entirety of Year One (two 16-week semesters). Because of the progressive nature of the program, late entry is not advised and will only be accepted in light of extenuating circumstances. In 2027-28, we'll offer both Year One and Year Two so that we have a continuous graduation through the two-year program.

Kindermusik Musicians builds a strong foundation for future success in academics, music, teamwork, and leadership! Children learn to read music, play instruments like the glockenspiel, and develop skills needed for future participation in band, choir, orchestra, or private instrument lessons.

This program is designed for children already attending Kindergarten (or starting Kindergarten this fall)
How It Works
Year One consists of two 16-week semesters which will start September 15th and will follow the school calendar regarding breaks and time off. Classes meet once a week for 60 minutes, with parents or other caregivers invited to join us for the last 10-15 minutes each week.
Students explore many facets of the musical experience – speaking, singing, moving, dancing, listening, creating and playing instruments, as well as learning about reading and writing music. Musicians broadens and deepens the child’s introduction to the fulfillment and excitement of musicianship.
Over our 2 year period together, your child will learn how to play simple songs and melodies on three instruments which are theirs to take home and keep: The Glockenspiel, the Dulcimer, and the Recorder. From their experience and exposure to these instruments, most children are able and ready to transfer their knowledge to whichever instrument they’re most interested in – piano, violin, guitar, flute, cello? Oh the possibilities! Additionally we explore with an abundance of percussion instruments such as drums, shakers, cymbals, triangles, etc. in class, while still incorporating a lot of movement and play.
Important Note!
Learning music is a lifelong endeavour. Musicians is the very start to that to that journey. Keep in mind that at this young age, your child will need YOU to be a part of the process every step of the way. Music making at home is central to this curriculum. Key word: TOGETHERNESS!
Each week, the children receive a Music At Home card that is the homework for the week. The homework is designed for families to work together to practice newly learned skills – from how to hold the instrument properly, to learning new melodies, songs or rhythms, as well as musical terms and notes on a staff. Weekly follow-through at home is encouraged and each week. Just be sure to keep it playful, challenging and a collaborative effort. Your child will be more likely to ‘practice’ when they see their grown-ups also engaged in learning new skills.
Materials
Each child will be provided with their own materials package. These materials are mandatory for participation in the program. With the $80 materials fee, students in Year One will receive:
Kindermusik Musicians Year One Materials Kit
Includes fiddlesticks, glockenspiel with mallets, glockenspiel book, game pieces packs, and a binder with all necessary materials for both semesters. Each kit will also come with a carrying bag. Designs may vary from the image.
Materials are ordered by our studio from the Kindermusik Store (based in US) ahead of the class start date and are non-refundable. We will take the risk on fluctuating shipping costs, so you don’t have to. If you prefer to purchase your own materials and opt out of what we provide, please let us know and you can check out the Musicians Year 1 Kit on the Kindermusik Store.
For additional siblings, the materials kit will not include the glockenspiel unless otherwise requested. The materials kit without glockenspiel is $30.
Payment Options & Sign-Up
Flexible payment options and sibling rates (at 70%) are available. The fee covers instruction and materials which include books, a carrying bag, sticks, and your own glockenspiel, and basic administration.

Statement on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies
It is important to us that our families know that our curricula, lesson plans, family materials, recordings, videos, artwork, and all other licensed materials from Kindermusik International has been created without the use of generative AI, as per the Licensing Agreement updated July 2026:
“Kindermusik is privileged to include works created by composers, authors, artists, publishers, and other creative professionals. Respecting intellectual property is fundamental to the Kindermusik experience and to the trust placed in the Kindermusik name. . . . Outside creative works (will never) be represented as part of the Kindermusik curriculum.”
At DCCS, we’re proud to be working with an organization that puts artists first. Kindermusik prioritizes educator training and ongoing professional development, and also regularly reviews its content for quality, historical and cultural safety, and up-to-date research on early child development.
Kindermusik Musicians Interest List - Fall 2026
By expressing your interest now, we can begin planning for this program to start. This program requires materials to be prepared ahead of time. Once we have enough children registered, we will contact all interest list caregivers, at which point you’ll be asked to formally register. Your invoice will be assessed and emailed to you as soon as it has been processed (we do everything manually).
