performed in a smooth singing style.
Italian, “singable.”
Unless a class is full, registration is available at any time in our programs. We know that sometimes life gets busy at the start of a season. That said, it is always best to have as much time as possible in the program for the most complete experience, and to guarantee readiness for concert performances.

CONCERTS
The Cantabile Mixed Choir participates in all major concerts held by the DCCS.
For the 2024-25 Season, these included the Winter Gala on January 18th and Spring Dessert Concert on May 4th. There may also be additional performances added throughout the year, such as for the October 10th “In Unity” mental health event, or arts festivals. The 2025-26 Season is still in development, with dates TBA soon.
DIRECTOR
Classes are led by Tatyana Dobrowolski and accompanied by Carmen Willms on piano
DRESS CODE
For major performances, choir dress code is white tops and black bottoms
Singers are welcome to accessorize in anything within the blue-green colour spectrum. Please ensure that singers are also wearing black shoes and black socks or nylons. Bare legs and feet stick out! If you’re having trouble finding performance apparel, please let the instructor know.
Program enrolment fees are determined each year based on cost predictions and secured funding. We try to maintain affordability for families, while also ensuring that we can keep the doors open and our artists and teaching staff paid! If cost becomes a barrier for your family, please connect with us regarding the DCCS Bursary Fund, or apply for the Dawson Creek Arts & Wellness Fund (for youth and young adults up to age 24).
Your first invoice will be assessed and emailed to you as soon as it has been processed. Please note that the first invoice will also include the $10 membership fee if your family is not already a member of DCCS. Please ensure your email address is typed correctly!
VOLUNTEERS
Parent volunteers are needed throughout the season and especially on concert days. Volunteer tasks include selling tickets, running concessions, or ushering. Many of our adult members will be involved at the Board level. We appreciate the support of adult members and their families when available!
CONCERT TICKETS
Singers do not need a ticket to concerts, but family and volunteers do. Usually tickets are $15 each. Ticket revenue is crucial for sustainability, as our programs rely on this revenue to keep going to the following year.
FUNDRAISING
Fundraising happens year-round for all DCCS programs. You may be asked to sell tickets or products, to provide baking or concession items, or to attend committee meetings as needed for the program.
CHOIR FOR HIRE
Cantabile singers are invited to sing in Choir for Hire which includes voluntary extra practices and special performances out in the community. The busiest times for Choir for Hire are November and December, and occasionally during the summer.
MUSIC FOLDERS
Music folders are assigned to singers on their first day of rehearsal. These folders contain all music for the course of the year, and may be added to or subtracted from during the season. Singers are required to pay a $20 refundable deposit for their rented music folders. Click here to buy the same folder as the choir, fully customizable!
TEAM EFFORT
Choir is a dynamic team activity. Cantabile singers are expected to work to support one another within the choir setting. All singers will honour and support each other to take risks, explore new skills, and make a ton of mistakes along the way.
